St. Paul's Starbucks was doing brisk trade on the 1st.
We had a security guard at our door on the 1st (we are above a branch of the bank Coutts). Seemed a bit pointless. If a raging mob had rampaged down Fleet Street it's not like he could have done much about it. Suspect it was a staff morale thing.

Were they just the first to do it,
are they out of step with everyone else,
or do they have inside information?
Maybe other shops did so later in the day - not sure. But at the time it stood out a bit like a sore thumb.
